Every year the KitchenAid Black Friday deals roll in. Every year my inbox fills up with "wait, is this the one you use?" And every year I answer them one by one.
Not this year, friend. This is the list. The exact ice cream bowl that lives in my freezer, the mixer that fits it, the extras worth grabbing while they're marked down, and the stuff I'd skip.
Quick heads-up on prices: KitchenAid hasn't announced its official Black Friday pricing yet. So instead of guessing, every pick has a "check today's price" link, and I'll keep this post updated straight through Cyber Monday. If a price moves, it moves here.
The short version: the KitchenAid Black Friday deals I'd buy first
- Already own a KitchenAid? Get the ice cream bowl attachment. Hands down the best thing I've ever put on my mixer - and the reason so many of you found my vanilla ice cream recipe.
- Don't own one yet? The 5-quart Artisan is the one. It fits the ice cream bowl, handles a double batch of cookie dough, and this is the week it's most likely to drop to a price that doesn't sting.
- Shopping for someone who bakes a LOT? The 7-quart bowl-lift. Overkill for most kitchens. Exactly right for the person who makes four loaves of bread on a Sunday.
KitchenAid Ice Cream Bowl Attachment

KitchenAid list price: $119.99 · On sale for $99.99 at KitchenAid's early Black Friday event through November 7 (checked October 27) · Check today's price
If you take one thing from this post, take this: the ice cream bowl is worth full price. So at sale price? Easy yes.
I begged for mine for Christmas in 2017. Same bowl, still going, never replaced. No rock salt, no ice, no extra machine hogging a cabinet. The bowl lives in your freezer and your mixer does the churning. Five ingredients and about twenty minutes gets you soft serve. A few hours in the freezer gets you real scoops.
Two things to check before you hit buy:
- Your mixer model. The current version (model KSMICM) fits every tilt-head KitchenAid except the Artisan Mini, and most bowl-lifts except a few older 5- to 6-quart models. My link goes straight to the KSMICM, but give the model number on your mixer a quick check against KitchenAid's own fit list before you order.
- Freezer space. The bowl needs a flat spot and at least 15 hours to freeze solid. KitchenAid says 24. If your freezer is packed, give it the full day. Shake it - if you hear liquid sloshing, it isn't ready.
Once it's frozen, start with my vanilla ice cream in your KitchenAid. It's the recipe that started all of this.
Ready for more than vanilla?
The KitchenAid Ice Cream Book is my $12 guide with twenty flavors built for this exact bowl. No eggs, no custard, no fuss. Grabbing the attachment as a gift? Tuck the book in with it and they'll have a whole winter of flavors ready to go.
KitchenAid Stand Mixers: which one to actually buy
| Mixer | Best for | Fits the ice cream bowl? | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Artisan 5-Qt Tilt-Head | Almost everyone. Cookies, cakes, bread, ice cream. | Yes | List $499.99 · Check today's price |
| 7-Qt Bowl-Lift | Big-batch bakers, bread every week | Yes | Check today's price |
| Artisan Mini 3.5-Qt | Small kitchens, one or two people | No | Check today's price |
Artisan 5-Quart: the one I'd recommend without blinking
This is the workhorse. Right size for a normal kitchen, comes in basically every color under the sun, and the tilt-head makes swapping the ice cream bowl in and out a ten-second job. KitchenAid lists it at $499.99. Black Friday is usually when the color you actually want goes on sale - not just the beige one.

7-Quart Bowl-Lift: for the serious baker
More power. More capacity. And it doesn't go for a walk across the counter when you throw a stiff dough at it. If the person on your list makes bread, brioche, or triple batches of anything, this is the upgrade. Planning on ice cream too? The KSMICM ice cream bowl fits it.

Artisan Mini: great mixer, wrong pick for ice cream
I love the Mini for small kitchens. But I have to say it loud: the ice cream bowl does not fit it, and that trips people up more than you'd think. If ice cream is on the wish list, skip it. If it isn't, it's a fantastic little machine. Check today's price on the Mini.
Attachments worth grabbing on sale
- Fresh Prep Slicer & Shredder. Shreds a whole block of cheese in seconds. Pre-shredded cheese is coated in anti-caking starch that makes a cheese sauce grainy. Shred your own and that problem is gone for good. Your smoked queso will thank you.
- Flex Edge Beater. The paddle with a silicone edge that scrapes the bowl while it mixes. Way fewer stops to scrape down the sides. This one fits 4.5- and 5-quart tilt-heads. Want the full rundown on which beater does what? Here's the best KitchenAid attachment for frosting.
- 5-Quart Glass Bowl. Microwave-safe, so you can melt butter or warm milk right in the mixing bowl. It has measuring lines and a pour spout, too. Fits 5-quart tilt-heads like the Artisan.
If you don't want a KitchenAid at all
No stand mixer, no problem. Two honest alternatives that usually go on sale this week too:
- Cuisinart Frozen-Bowl Ice Cream Maker. Same frozen-bowl idea as the KitchenAid attachment, just with its own motor. My best pick if you don't own a stand mixer.
- Ninja CREAMi. A totally different animal. You freeze the base solid in a pint, then it shaves it into ice cream. Great for single servings and protein-style ice cream, less great for feeding a party. I break down the difference in types of ice cream.

Little things to toss in the cart
- Paper ice cream cups with lids. Perfect for a sundae bar, or for sending the kids outside with their scoop.
- Mexican vanilla. The swap that makes my Mexican vanilla ice cream taste the way it does.
- A good silicone spatula, if you don't have one. Metal scratches the inside of the ice cream bowl.
Are KitchenAid Black Friday deals really the best price?
Usually, yes. But not always the deepest one of the year. KitchenAid mixers go on sale a few times a year, so if you miss this week, it's not the end of the world.
What Black Friday does better than anything else? It puts the attachments AND the good colors on sale at the same time. Buying a mixer and the ice cream bowl together? This is your week.
One more option worth a look: refurbished mixers straight from KitchenAid. They're meaningfully cheaper and come with a 1-year parts warranty and a 30-day return window. New mixers get a 1-year full warranty, so it's a real tradeoff, not a wash - but it's worth checking before you pay full sale price.
Frequently asked questions
When do KitchenAid Black Friday deals start?
They already have. KitchenAid's early Black Friday event is running now, with the ice cream bowl on sale through November 7. Black Friday itself is November 27 and Cyber Monday is November 30, and I'll update this post as the official prices drop.
Does the KitchenAid ice cream bowl go on sale for Black Friday?
It's already on sale at KitchenAid as of October 27: $99.99, down from $119.99, through November 7. It can sell out during the holidays, so if you see it in stock at a price you like, don't wait for Cyber Monday.
Which KitchenAid mixer should I buy for ice cream?
Any full-size tilt-head, or most bowl-lifts. The 5-quart Artisan is the sweet spot. Skip the Artisan Mini and hand mixers - the ice cream bowl doesn't fit them.
Tilt-head or bowl-lift?
Tilt-head for most kitchens. It's easier to get the ice cream bowl in and out, and it fits under standard cabinets. Go bowl-lift if you make heavy bread doughs all the time or want the 7-quart capacity.
Is the Cuisinart as good as the KitchenAid attachment?
They work the same way - both are frozen-bowl churners. The KitchenAid wins if you already own the mixer (one less appliance). The Cuisinart wins if you don't.
How long does the ice cream bowl need to freeze?
At least 15 hours in the coldest part of your freezer. KitchenAid recommends 24, and a full day is smart if your freezer is packed. If you shake it and hear liquid, it isn't ready.
I'll keep these KitchenAid Black Friday deals updated through Cyber Monday. Still shopping? My Christmas gifts for home cooks and pellet smoker gift guide have plenty more ideas.
Cheers,
Tabi
