Okay, let's talk gifts!

Every December I get the same text: "What do I get the person who cooks for everyone?" And listen — as the person who is that person (and a Le Cordon Bleu grad who has cooked in professional kitchens), I have OPINIONS. This is my real list: the tools I reach for every single week, the splurges worth every penny, and the little stocking stuffers that make a cook feel seen.

Shopping for the baker, the host, the one who has everything — or quietly building your own wishlist? (I see you. Same.) Jump straight to what you need:

My Top Picks Under $25 For the Baker For the Host The Splurge Pantry Gifts FAQ

Short on time? My top 3.

  1. The gift that changes how they cook: a ZWILLING Pro chef’s knife.$$$
  2. The showstopper: the KitchenAid Evergreen mixer with the walnut bowl.$$$$
  3. The best stocking stuffer, period: a Microplane zester.$

Price guide: $ under $25 · $$ $25–100 · $$$ $100–300 · $$$$ $300+. Prices move a lot around the holidays, so check the current price when you click.

Shipping reminder: holiday shipping gets tight after the second week of December. If it has to be under the tree, order by early December. Not ready to buy yet? The cart buttons below save everything to your Amazon cart for later.

From My Kitchen to Yours: What I’d Actually Gift Myself

If you only read one section, make it this one. These are the tools that earn their spot on my counter every single week.

ZWILLING Pro knife slicing cucumber and red pepper on a wood cutting board

ZWILLING Pro 8″ Chef’s Knife$$$

The knife I grab every single day. A truly sharp knife is the one upgrade that turns cooking from a chore into a joy. Already have one they love? Add the matching ZWILLING Pro santoku.

Wooden cutting boards and serving trays

A Really Nice Cutting Board$$

Big, sturdy, and pretty enough to leave out on the counter. Give that good knife a good home.

Stack of stainless steel frying pans on a wood counter

Real Stainless Steel Pans$$$

My Emeril Lagasse set from 2021 still looks brand new. All-Clad is the gold standard, but you don’t need All-Clad money: the pros at Cult Flav swear by Tramontina Tri-Ply Clad, with a Made In frying pan as the splurge.

KitchenAid stand mixer with attachments

The KitchenAid Stand Mixer$$$$

My ride-or-die. Mine has whipped more cream, kneaded more dough, and churned more ice cream than I can count.

Homemade vanilla ice cream churning in my KitchenAid ice cream maker bowl

KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Bowl$$

Already have the mixer? Gift an attachment. This is the exact bowl behind my homemade vanilla ice cream. Also great: the metal food grinder and the slicer & shredder.

Shaving fresh black truffle over pasta

Fresh Truffles$$$

A little weird, hear me out: last Christmas I got fresh truffles shipped frozen from Europe and it was the best gift I’ve ever unwrapped. Order from a purveyor like Marky’s and tuck in a truffle shaver.

The alternative pick! Made in France from ceramic, lighter than cast iron, and gorgeous. It goes stovetop to oven to table, and it pairs perfectly with the Emile Henry pie dish.

KitchenAid pasta roller and cutter attachment making fresh pasta

KitchenAid Pasta Roller & Cutter$$$

Hands-down the most fun attachment there is. Fresh pasta night turns into a whole event.

Brisket going on the pellet smoker

Camp Chef Pellet Smoker$$$$

For the backyard pitmaster who dreams in brisket and pulled pork.

Pantry & Finishing Touches

Not everyone wants another gadget. Bundle three or four of these in a basket and you’ve made an instant hostess gift.

Smoked asparagus with hot honey

Hot Honey$

Pizza, biscuits, fried chicken, cheese boards, vegetables. (Truly bold? Go extra hot.)

Mexican vanilla extract with ice cream ingredients

Real Mexican Vanilla$

Once you bake with the good stuff there’s no going back. (Haitian vanilla is gorgeous too.)

Row of TRUFF truffle hot sauce bottles on a store shelf

TRUFF Hot Sauce$

Truffle-infused and gift-worthy just for the bottle.

Crown Maple bourbon barrel aged syrup with cocktail ingredients

Bourbon-Barrel-Aged Maple Syrup$$

Turns Saturday pancakes into an event.

Hot pepper jelly over cream cheese with crackers

Hot Pepper Jelly$

Spoon it over cream cheese, add crackers, and watch it disappear.

Your Gift-Shopping Questions, Answered

The questions I get asked most every December:

What’s the best gift for someone who loves to cook?

One really good tool they’ll use every day. A great chef’s knife is my number one answer. It makes every meal easier, and most home cooks never buy themselves a good one.

What can I get a cook who already has everything?

Go for an upgrade or an experience: the Evergreen KitchenAid (even if they own a mixer), a KitchenAid attachment like the pasta set, or fresh truffles shipped straight to their door.

What are good kitchen gifts under $25?

A Microplane zester, an offset spatula, a citrus press, pinch bowls, and a portion scoop.

Cheap, used constantly, and perfect stocking stuffers.

A Little Note Before You Shop

Here’s my one piece of chef advice: you don’t have to buy the whole kitchen. One really good tool beats a drawer full of gadgets every time. Give the thing they’ll reach for on an ordinary Tuesday, and they’ll think of you every time they use it.

If this list helped, save it for later on Pinterest and come say hi on Instagram. Tell me what’s on your list!

However you celebrate this season, I hope your kitchen is warm, your people are close, and there’s something delicious on the stove. Merry Christmas, friends. — Tabi

I'm a Le Cordon Bleu grad (Class Valedictorian, 2007) and former Lead Chef Instructor, which is a fancy way of saying I've spent my whole career teaching people to cook. These days that happens right here: real recipes, the why behind them, and exactly where people mess them up — so you don't. When the smoker's not running, I'm feeding Jon and the kids something new.
